Chapter  7
Today’s the big day.  The day where who become one, a miracle of life. It was to be a day like none before; not a typical wedding. With its white and whatever colour, but quite the opposite, the colours are going to be dark, like the creatures they are. Blacker then the blackest part of the universe, red as dark as blood and grey a balance between what is light and what is dark. Their wedding was to be a private ceremony just the two of them, and their family. Then they were to have a huge reception everyone and anyone was invited.
It was seven oclock in the morning, they got up early to finish setting everything up for the wedding. They had to get a cake made, with three layers. The biggest is on the bottom and it was to be black, a medium one in the middle which was to be red and then the last layer was a smaller cake which was both black and red. But what’s totally different was that at the very top as decoration was an egg… not a typical chicken egg… but it was a very special egg. This egg was fairly large and its patterning was unique. The egg was from the one and only Shakiran.
Their rings aren’t a gold band like a usual wedding, these rings they had made were to give them eternal life. The ring was made of the Shakiran’s scale. A Shakiran was the protector of the shadow realm. It had been said that the scale of a Shakiran could not be broken, but it forms rings for special people when the time is right. The rings gave eternal life to those who wore it and the rings would connect to their un-dead flesh and stay there forever.
A scale from the protector is a blackish red colour, almost a deep bloody colour. Legand says he is unstoppable, he can not die, for he is covered in the scales wich the rings came from, but he can not live. His eyes are hugs and are made of skulls from those who have died. By those who have died I mean the fallen soldiers of the shadow realm… shadow dwellers.
The wedding starts at 9:00pm. Why so late you may ask? Because it starts to get dark so they do the ceremony as the sun sets. Not only is it beautiful and romantic but it represents the new day in which they become one forever. Life was going to get better for them. Damien couldn’t stop the wedding, and they would be with each other for eternity. No divorces, no pain, just together for ever in happiness. What a life that would be… nothing bad could ever break them apart…
Life as they knew it was going to change. Isabel stood looking at herself in the mirror. Her black hair in a messy bun, her clothes stained and dirty, wearing no make up. She thought she looked hideous… but her lovely guy believed the opposite.  They had all day to get ready and finish a few things… but they just didn’t want to do any work. Matthew stood there in awe at his beautiful fiancé. It may be bad luck to see the bride before the wedding but they didn’t believe that there was any “luck” they just figure whatever happened, happened for a reason.
Isabel had her dress as picked out and perfect, she knew what she was going to do for her hair and make up, her shoes were already picked out. She was completely prepared… but only the material objects… in her mind she didn’t quite know what to expect, would he back down under pressure? Would he say yes but only be lying? It was a very stressful thing. Not only are you agreeing to be together forever… but you’re signing your soul to that person. She started to shake.
Matthew could see Isabel starting to shake… her feelings kept in side… so he walked over to her and held her close. They stood in silence for a few minutes. Then Isabel took a deep breath and her shaking to start.
“whats wrong?” matthew asked quietly.
“nothing… im fine” Isabel replied  quietly.
“Don’t lie to me… not today…” Matthew said holding her tighter.
“Are you sure you want to marry me?” she asked.
“is that even a question?! I love you with all my heart and soul… I could NEVER be without you!” matthew replied quickly turning her around to see his face.
“I love you too… but I just cant help but think that something’s going to change your mind.” Isbael said backing off.
“Baby… please… just believe me… nothing could ever change my feelings for you… you are by far the best thing to ever happen to me and I want to spend the rest of our soon to be eternal life together… to have a family with you… to live like a fairy tale… please… just know-” Matthew started to say before Isabel jumped forwards and kissed him.
“I love you so much, I don’t know who id be without you. You are so good to me! I want this to happen I want you for eternity!” Isabel said with tears of happiness.
“I love you too.” He replied hugging her close to him.
“Ahem…” Damien said standing at the door
“what?” Matthew said.
“mother wants to speak to Isabel.” He replied and walked away.
“ill be back. Ill tell you everything!” Isabel said.
“okay.” Matthew said as Isabel walked away.
Isabel walked out of the room she looked for Damien and didn’t see him, she took a deep breath and continued down the hall to the stairs. Out of no where he jumped over the railing and landed on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. She panicked but continued walking down the stairs slowly one step at a time clinging onto the railing. He kept watching her, staring at her. Step by step… she reached the bottom of the stairs and he moved.
“living room.” Damien said quickly.
“okay.” She replied flatly.
She walked slowly into the living room looking for danger, looking to be attacked… expecting something to happen.
“Isabel! Is that you! Oh my god! Come sit. There much we must talk about!” mother said smiling.
“yes, mother.” She said slowly walking to the couch and sitting down.
“so todays the big day! Are you nervous? Do you want help getting ready? Do you want tea? Coffee? Anything? Can I get you a piece of-” mother started to say.
“mother… calm down… im fine. So what is it you really want?” Isabel said placin her hand on her knee.
“im dying…”  mother whispered.
“WHAT?” Isabel shouted.
“shh, shh… child please!” mother said covering her mouth.
“do your sons know?” Isabel said uncovering her mouth.
“no… youre the only one… please don’t tell!” mother said.
“so why tell me? Why now?” Isabel asked.
“ive never had a daughter… I die soon… please… keep it between us… I want the wedding to be perfect for you…” she replied.
“it will be… will you help me get ready?” Isabel asked.
“yes!” Mother said crying.
“okay I have to go I have suff I must do. I love you.” Isabel said standing up.
“you… you said I love you… no one says that much around here.” Mother said.
“I mean it. But goodbye for now!” Isabel said walking out.
“I love you too….” Mother whispered.
Just as Isabel reached the stairs there Damien stood… blocking the path to get up the stairs. She went right he went left, she went left he went right. He blocked the path she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “sevth havish tavanoria” she said and Damien went flying forwards up and over Isabel. She looked at him as he landed a few feet behind her, she smiled and quickly went up the stairs. She got to her room and opened the door and she shut it quickly behind her.
“what? Whats wrong?” matthew said jumping up at the door shutting.
“your brother has issues… like major issues…” Isabel said throwing herself onto the bed.
“we both knew that a while ago love.” He said walking to her and sitting beside her.
“well he needs to like chill…” Isabel said sitting up.
“so what did nother want?” matthew asked.
“mother… oh yeah… she wanted to know if she could help me get ready. I agreed. It should be fun!” she hesitated to say.
“and that’s it?” matthew said.
“yup, that’s it!” Isabel said in a reassuring voice,
“good! So shall we go for a little walk?” matthew asked.
“no… im feeling tired… maybe you should go bond with your mother. Talk to her , you never spend time with her. Im feeling tired and im just going to sleep.” Isabel said sliding to the pillows and resting her head.
“okay I shall do that. Sweet dreams sweetheart.” He said kissing her forehead and walking out of the room.
“what am I going to do? I juts lied to him… when he finds out hes going to kill me… but I told mother I wouldn’t tell… I don’t know what to do… why does this have to happen today? Of all days my wedding day! Why cant just for one day nothing go wrong…. Im starting to believe in this thing called “luck”….” She said aloud to herself. “im hungry… I should feed….” She ended her rant and stared out of the window.
She could see matthew and his mother walking, mother had a tight grip on his arm. So she wouldn’t fall. Is she going to tell him now? If so… is he going to stop the wedding? Maybe he would understand… but maybe hell go into rage…  will he harm me? All questions Isabel thought of. Life would be so different if she would have told him the truth. If he finds out that may be the end of their relationship as we know it… all of a sudden mother collapsed.
Isabel jumped off the bed and opened the window and removed the scream. She jumped out of the window and landed softly on her feet and ran over to them.
“what happened?” Isabel asked in a panic.
“mother you can stand up now.” Matthew said.
“what?” Isabel asked.
“it was to see if you were sleeping… you lied to me… I don’t take well to liers lovely… don’t ever lie to me… no matter what it is…” matthew said harshly.
‘shit… hes going to kills me’ Isabel thought to herself.
“GOT IT?” he said in a firm louder voice.
“yes.” Isabel said walking away.
“izzy?” matthew said softly.
“yes?” she said turning to him.
“I love you.” He said with a smile.
“I love you too.” She said and walked into the house.
When she got in there stood Damien. He looked at her and tilted his head to the left and smiled.
“something wrong?” he askes
“just leave me alone.” She repied walking to the stairs.
“oh come on… youre supposed to be happy!” he taunted.
“just stay away from me.. do not make me…” Isabel said strurnly.
“fine, fine… just know… I know somethings wrong… you cant hide whatever youre trying to.” He said stepping in front of her.
“get away now.” She said pushing him.
He grabbed her hands and stared in her eyes. He smiled and let go and stepped aside.
“she’s dying.” Damien said.
“what? who?” Isabel said.
“mother,” He replied “but you already know that already.” He continued.
“what? No.” Isabel tried to convince him. “I’m so sorry to hear that.”
“stop your lies… you stupid girl… you know she is… she told you…” Damien said
“what? No… why would she tell me?” Isabel asked.
“STUPID GIRL…” Damien yelled.
Matthew ran in after hearing his brother yell. He grabbed Damien and pulled him back. He stood in front of his fiancé and stared at his brother.
“what do you want.” Damien snarled.
“why are you yelling at my girl?” Matthew asked.
“shes lying to you.” Damien replied.
“what?” Matthew asked turning to look at Isabel.
“what is he talking about?” he asked.
“hunny… please…” Isabel started. But was interrupted.
“why… after what I said… you LIED to me…” he yelled.
“its not my fault! I was told not to tell…” Isabel started to cry.
“who told you not to?” matthew said… his voice starting to crack.
“I can not tell.. im so sorry!” Isabel said crying and running out of the house towards the forest.
Matthew stood there. He started to told back tears but he couldn’t. he closed his eyes and fell to the ground on his knees. He put his hands to his face and started to cry. Damien stood there looking at his brother. Not offering to help, nor was he making fun of him. He just stood there. Watching. He let out a sigh.
“stop making a fool out of yourself.” Damien said.
“fuck off… just seriously… stop trying.” Matthew said.
“ stop trying what?” Damien said
“just stop.” Matthew said standing up and walking slowly up the stairs.
He stared out of the door. He could see Isabel standing in the middle of the yard. Staring out into the forest. He wondered what she say. He wondered if she was going to cancel the wedding. He started to walk slowly towards her. She was shaking. When he reached her he hugged her tight from behind. She wrapped her arms around his and held tight.
“im sorry…” matthew apologized.
“no… you have nothing to be sorry about… its me who should be sorry.” She replied.
“I snapped… I shouldn’t have. Im just stressed… Can we talk?” he asked.
“of course.” She said.
“alright follow me.” He said letting go and taking her hand.
“okay.” She replied.
She grabbed his hand and they walked quietly to behind the house and sat down on a stone carved bench. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and started to cry. She sat there confused; she held his hand tightly.
“whats wrong?” Isabel said softly in his hear.
“do you still want to marry me?” he asked.
“yes darling, I would never dream of not spending eternity with you. If I cant have you… then no one shall ill kill the both of us. We are meant to be. No relationship or marriage is perfect. And it never will be, but as long as I have you. I feel complete; I know in the dead heart that I want you and only you. No ifs, ands or buts about it.” Isabel said facing him.
“even if im a complete mess?” he asked blankly.
“yes. Even if you hate me.” Isabel reassured him.
“thank you.” He replied leaning in to kiss her.
Isabel kissed him and then stood up quickly and said “I need to go get ready now,” and ran off. It was seven o’clock and the wedding was in two hours. It gave her time to look picture perfect, and she would not let herself be anything but perfect… or what she thought perfect would be. She couldn’t believe how fast the day went by. The wedding was all set up and all that was left to do was getting ready.
Isabel found mother in the living room and took her hand. They walked in silence into Isabel’s room to get her ready. Mother sat down on the bed and Isabel rushed into the closet and searched frantically for her dress which was hidden. She took it and put it gently on the bed beside mother, and ran back to the closet. She threw herself to the ground and looked for her shoes. She panicked when she couldn’t find the box her shoes were in. she scattered to the bed and looked under it. There she seen a box, she took it out and in that box was her shoes. She let out a sigh of relief.
“calm down child.” Mother said.
“I cant! Im so…” Isabel said.
“nervous? I know love, but you have two hours still. Go into the shower wash your hair and relax when you come out I shall have your makeup kits set up, hair dryer ever thing you need will be out just go!” mother laughed.
Isabel ran into the bathroom locked the door behind her and turned on the hot water. She undressed herself and opened the shower curtains and stepped in. the water felt so warm over her body, but it was so relaxing. She tilted her head back and let the water run down her neck then it made its way over her body.  She grabbed soap and washed her body then again stood under the warmth. She turned around and grabbed the shampoo and washed her hair she let it sit for a few minutes then she rinsed it. She went to grab the conditioner when she felt as if someone had been watching her. She peered through the shower curtains. She was correct. There stood Damien by the door.
“get the fuck out of here.” She said grabbing her towel.
“and why would I do that?” he replied with a smirk.
“ don’t make she scream.” She replied.
“big words for someone who is lying to her fiancé.” Damien said.
“you have until the count of three.  One... Two… thr-” she begun to say when he opened the door and ran out.
She went and locked the door again and quickly conditioned her hair. She wrapped a towel around her body and one around her hair. She walked quickly to her room and closed the door. Mother kept to her word. Everything was set up perfectly. She let a sigh of relief out and sat beside mother on the bed.
“whats wrong child?” mother asked.
“what? Oh… nothing.” Isabel replied.
“you are a terrible liar.” Mother replied.
“no. I promise. Every thing’s perfect. Thank you.” Isabel answered.
“okay.” Mother said.
Isabel stood up and walked to the mirror and stood there looking at herself in her towels. She removed the towel from her hair and combed her fingers through her soft, wet hair. She walked to the dresser and took out a black bra, and panties. She let the towel drop and put them on. She walked back to the mirror and looked at herself again.  She shook her head and walked to her wedding dress and picked it up and then laid it down again. She sat in a chair by the mirror and blow dried her hair. It dried and she started to straighten it. Mother walked over and took the straightener and straightened the rest of Isabel’s hair. they talked about how Isabel was feeling, and the future, how many kids, if they were moving away, normal conversation a mother and daughter talk about.
Isabel’s hair was straight as a board. She tousled her hair with her fingers to loosen it up a little bit. She picked up the eye liner and drew a thick black line under her eyes. She drew another line above the eye and then she added white eye shadow covering her entire eye lid. She used different grays and blacks around the sides of her eyes. She added some blush to add colour to her face and then she used a bloody red lipstick, and added mascara to her eyelashes. She looked wonderful. All she needed was her dress, veil, and flower bouquet.  This bouquet was made of black and red roses.
Isabel walked over to her wedding dress and stared at it’s beauty as it laid on her bed.  She looked at mother who simply nodded her head. It was time. Mother walked over and helped put her dress on, and zipped it up. It was a sleeveless dress, it was slim at the top, but then it widened at the waist. The dress was black and it had a blood red ribbon at the waist. It was a thin ribbon, but it was noticeable. They put the veil on and hung it over her face. She grabbed the bouquet, put on her shoes and stood in front of the mirror one last time. Mother took her hand and they walked to the door.
Mother opened and door and there stood Penelope, dressed in a red slim dress. They slowly walked down the stairs being careful not to fall. At the front door stood Damien in a red suit, he held the door as they three girls walked out. Down the front stairs there was a horse waiting for them. What a magnificent animal, the horse was black, it did not wear a saddle, but it had a red blanket on. Penelope moved a stool so Isabel could get on. Isabel took a deep breath and climbed on, then Damien walked mother, Penelope, and her on her horse to the church.
There was no conversation the entire way to the church. When they arrived the church doors were closed. Damien tried to help Isabel off the horse but she refused and slid off by herself. She stood beside the doors while mother, Penelope and Damien walked inside. Ten minutes to go, she stood all alone outside the church. When finally the church doors opened.
